The Beverly Wilshire

I love to go to the hotel where Pretty Women was filmed. Yesterday, the lobby was decorated with a wall of roses and the wrapping paper on the fake presents looked like vintage 60s Christmas wallpaper.

My favorite place to hang out is the lobby, where the rich and richer hang out in their natural habitat. They are sometimes over dressed, mainly in Todd’s, and the men look like they sit down and work a lot. The women’s faces are greasy with moisturizer and as I waited for my mid-range car to arrive from the valet I heard the woman say to her companion–they were in their mid forties–"Don’t forget who you are and who you represent." Weird.

A+R Goodies

If you are ever in Silver lake go by my old boss’ store A+R (That’s A plus R, not A & R).  Andy and Rose have filled their store with delicious design goodies from around the world, the kind of things you would pick up if you frequented the design trade show circuit. My special favorite is a knife set that consists of a silver figurine of a man impaled with five beefy knives.

Here I’ve included some images of their Swedish felt purses and Brooks Salzwedel’s fabulous Shane Belts.

Prison

Got a birthday card from my stalker in prison today. It says Thinking Of You On Your Birthday.

"Here’s a birthday card for me to you. if you birthday has passed save it for next year."

The head of the research department is trying to find out what sort of crime he committed. . .At least this time it wasn’t poetry in Spanish. I don’t speak Spanish.
